Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main purpose by offering gardening help, giving a reason for applying, and stating when you are available. Your agriculture diploma and wish to develop your knowledge are relevant supporting details. However, the response only partly fulfils the task: it assumes Mrs Barrett wants a professional gardener, although the prompt asks about help in her home, and it does not offer a range of household tasks. Availability is also unclear: you give dates from May 5 to June 23, then say you are available in the evenings, but do not explain which days or times you cannot work. Clarify the kind of help you can provide and give a precise schedule, including any unavailable periods.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a generally understandable sequence: you introduce yourself, explain your suitability and motivation, give availability, and close politely. This overall arrangement helps the reader follow your purpose. The links between ideas are sometimes mechanical, however, as in “Additionally” and “Apart from that,” and the long opening sentence combines several points without clear separation. Paragraphing is also limited, with the main information presented in capitalised blocks. Use separate paragraphs for your offer, reasons, and schedule, and connect related details more naturally. Clearer transitions would also help distinguish your date-based availability from your evening availability.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “diploma in agriculture,” “local community,” and “available.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, which limits precision: “assessment with some house help” does not naturally describe responding to an advertisement, and “guide you in gardening exercise” is not idiomatic. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “MANAGEMNT,” “KNOWLEGE,” and “GARDENINIG,” alongside inconsistent capitalisation. Choose familiar, accurate phrases rather than forcing formal-sounding expressions. For example, say that you can “help with gardening” and that you “would like to gain experience” through the work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, such as “As you are looking for …, I will be …,” and the main message is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited and errors in sentence construction, articles, and prepositions occur often enough to make parts difficult to read. For instance, “I have worked with several companies and provided best services to them” needs an article before “best services,” while “I will be available in the month of May starting 5th to June 23rd” has an unclear time construction. The opening also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas carefully; use standard sentence case and punctuation to make boundaries clear.
