Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's world we are using the plastic whether it is for packing of the products or for storing them and also there are so many products in which plastic is being used for manufacturing them. And, it is not only harmful for the environment but also for the health of every other living organism too.
To begin with, the humans spend last few decades to try to save money in manufacturing and packing and for it plastic is the cheapest product. But, after getting to know it is harming our earth itself the government is trying to reduce its usage and manufacturing itself. And, for that they have launched several policies and have taken some important decisions like recycling and in some countries the usage of plastic as a bag is completely banned for minimizing its usage. For instance, Indian government has banned the plastic bags and initiating the usage of other materials in place of that.
Moreover, even the other countries have taken so many steps to use the already produced plastic for using in other factors too. Like in Germany they are producing the electricity from it then there are some who are using it in the production of roads and in so many other things. Even though we cannot do that much about the already produced plastic but we can decrease our dependency for its future production.
In conclusion, plastic is harming our oceans, humans, animals and our environment too. So, manufacturing it just for the sake of saving some money is not worth it. Instead, more efforts should be put in to find an alternative which is more environmental friendly and does not harm the health of any organism.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, while you mention that plastic is harmful to the environment and health, you do not elaborate on specific types of damage, such as microplastics in the food chain or the longevity of plastic waste. Similarly, the solutions provided are general. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific examples of how individuals can contribute beyond just government policy. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from government policies to individual actions is not clearly delineated. The use of referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure, which affects the overall flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'manufacturing', 'dependency', and 'environmental friendly'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and repetitive. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'using the plastic' (should be 'using plastic') and 'initiating the usage of other materials' (which is slightly unnatural). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to environmental issues, such as 'non-biodegradable', 'sustainable alternatives', or 'mitigate the impact'. The current range is sufficient to convey your message clearly but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'the plastic', 'the humans'), subject-verb agreement, and awkward phrasing, such as 'the humans spend last few decades to try to save money'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are noticeable and occur regularly. To improve, focus on mastering article usage and refining your sentence construction to ensure greater accuracy. Incorporating more complex structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, would also help, provided they are used accurately.
