Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of how plastic affects animals is clear, but the section on government solutions could be more detailed. The position is generally clear, but the essay lacks a strong, cohesive argument structure. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific reasoning or examples rather than listing several brief points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Without knowingly they inhale the dangerous flame', where the connection to the previous clause is weak. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'non composite or non-recycled material' and 'very bas impact'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'allocate the funds' or 'aware them for the garbage bin uses'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in word formation and collocation occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('animals are attract', 'many country take'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('which is leave it's presence'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the overall score. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity of the writing.
