Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of non-biodegradable waste and the need for recycling plants. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on 'burning plastic' is a good point but lacks a more nuanced explanation of the chemical consequences. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and lacks a clear summary of the main points. To improve, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed reasoning or specific examples to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another impact', 'However', and 'In addition to this'. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the transition 'assembly and people can take the steps' is unclear. Referencing is sometimes imprecise, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of arguments. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother, more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'Making by plastic', 'the garage' (instead of garbage/waste), and 'create desster' (disaster). While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'bio-degradable' and 'landfills', the overall control is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form. Expanding your range of synonyms will also help avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('these items are take long time'), article usage, and incorrect verb forms ('if people are use'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically tense consistency and the correct use of auxiliary verbs, before attempting more complex structures.
