Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing environmental damage and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited and lacks depth. The explanation of global warming is scientifically inaccurate and vague, and the example regarding food packaging in India is anecdotal and not fully developed. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the depth of the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more logical reasoning and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'which is cause because of major use of plastic'. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical flow between ideas is sometimes interrupted by grammatical errors. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is not always smooth. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and paragraphs more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'get died' instead of 'die' and 'distributes' misspelled as 'disturbutes'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to the environment and pollution, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling to ensure your meaning is clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('use of plastic has increases'), verb tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms.
