Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the environmental damage caused by plastic and potential solutions from governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The discussion on health consequences, such as the mention of 'zinc material,' lacks scientific accuracy and clarity, which weakens the argument. While the essay covers the required points, the ideas are presented in a somewhat simplistic manner. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and perhaps more concrete examples of environmental damage beyond health concerns, such as marine life impact or landfill issues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often interrupted by fragmented sentences and repetitive phrasing. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'This is' or 'They have to.' The transition between the problem and the solution is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in addition') to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'bad,' 'use,' and 'problem' repeatedly. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'zinc material' and 'food packing,' which do not accurately convey the intended meaning. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and policy, and work on using more sophisticated collocations to express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('plastic bottles and plastic packets are use'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which can make the text difficult to follow. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb. Proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency will also significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
