Student answer (Band 6.5)
I totally agree with that statement that plastic bags and bottles are bad for the environment. Plastic pollution is one of the greatest forms of pollution all over the world.
Plastic can do lots of damage to the environment like if plastic is burning, it's bad for our health; it can damage our lungs through its smoke. However, throwing plastic bottles and cans in rivers and lakes can contaminate the drinking water, which can lead to serious health issues. Moreover, 90 percent of animals die because of eating plastic bags every day; people are throwing bags here and there after using it.
There are several steps that the government and every single person can take to stop this. First of all, the government has to stop using plastic bags; instead of plastic bags, they has to make ute bags which are also reuseable . Second thing, campaigns organized by government to teach people the hazards of using plastic bags, and if they see someone throwing cans or bottles here and there, there will be a fine for that. After that , schools also teach students how they can create an art from empty plastic cans instead of wasting them. Government can also ban plastic water bottels and there should be glass bottles so after using it people can keep at home or use them as a flower pot.
To conclude,I think these are the steps government and individuals can take to stop plastic pollution because it can also harms the upcoming generation its better to stop it now as soon as possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the claim that '90 percent of animals die because of eating plastic bags every day' is an unsupported generalization that lacks nuance. While the response covers the required points, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with specific examples or more logical explanations. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of analysis remains at a basic level, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'Second thing', and 'Moreover', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'After that' to transition between points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the solutions, which helps the reader follow the argument, although the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. The student relies on basic terms like 'bad', 'damage', and 'throwing', and there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'ute bags' (likely meaning 'jute' or 'reusable') and 'create an art'. Spelling errors like 'bottels' also occur. While the meaning is generally clear, the lexical range is not sufficiently wide to demonstrate flexibility or the use of less common items with precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('they has to make', 'it can also harms') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and suggest a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
