Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the environmental damage caused by plastic and potential solutions from governments and individuals. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the impact on marine life is mentioned, the explanation of the broader environmental damage is brief. Similarly, the solutions are somewhat generic, focusing primarily on banning plastic and using paper. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples and explain the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments more thoroughly. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas need more depth and elaboration to fully satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'To recapitulate'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'Due to which, some of their species have came to level of extinction'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions could be smoother to improve the overall readability and coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'bad', 'spoiled', and 'things'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'post immediate ban' (should be 'impose an immediate ban') and 'urges the environmental imbalance' (which is not a standard collocation). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental science and sustainability, and focus on using words in their correct context to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('There are few sea creature... comes to the shore') and tense errors ('have came to level of extinction'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in article usage and pluralisation. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and verb forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
