Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt: it identifies environmental damage caused by plastic and suggests solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant and clearly structured. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, while you mention that plastic harms marine life, you could have provided a more specific example, such as the ingestion of microplastics by fish. Similarly, the solutions are mentioned but could be expanded with more detail on how these programs would function in practice. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear reasoning and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On the one hand', and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing or minor grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The overall progression is logical, but the internal cohesion of sentences needs more attention to ensure a natural, fluid reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sustainable', 'biodegradable', and 'subsidies'. However, there are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'invironment', 'awarness', 'eridicate', 'teh', 'harme', 'gorw', 'yers', 'platic', and 'recycleing'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the high frequency of spelling mistakes and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'push the towars to use') limit the score. Improving your proofreading skills will significantly enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('plastic take thousands of yers', 'individual can stope'), article usage, and sentence construction ('there are many measures can be taken'). These errors occur throughout the essay and occasionally force the reader to re-read a sentence to grasp the intended meaning. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure consistency will help you achieve a higher band score.
