Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of soil/air pollution and the impact on stray animals in Delhi. However, the development is somewhat limited; the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a fully developed summary. While the position is clear, the lack of a finished conclusion impacts the overall sense of task completion. The ideas are generally well-supported with examples, but more depth in the explanation of government policies would have strengthened the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and an attempt at a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In order to', which help guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and the abrupt ending of the essay. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between ideas could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the incomplete final sentence significantly disrupts the coherence of the concluding section.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is frequent repetition of basic terms like 'plastic', 'pollution', and 'environment'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'decompose with environment' or 'internal vessel blockage'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited, and there are minor errors in collocation that do not impede communication but prevent a higher score. Expanding the range of synonyms and using more sophisticated collocations would improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include missing articles ('the' before 'government'), subject-verb agreement errors ('hundreds of stray animals dies'), and incorrect verb forms ('by burn or burring'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and requires attention. More focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
