Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this modern era, people are becoming materialistic and shopping they give preference to the plastic bags, bottles and packaging which puts negative impact on the environment. In the upcoming paragraphs I would like to discuss the damages as well as what should done by the government and people in order to save the environment.
Firstly, nowadays people like to use plastic things for small and big things such as groceries, shopping, etc. And after taking the valuable items from the plastic bags they just throw it anywhere. Due to this behaviour these plastic things go into the rivers, holes by wind and it reduces the water quality. The other thing is the most of the people burn the plastic bags after using and it is not good for air quality. So, this trend damage the environment and individuals have to suffer from the diseases like cancer, heart attack, flu and so on.
Now I would like to discuss the solutions of these problems. The former is government should take strict actions against the plastic items, they should banned the manufacturing of plastic bags and promote the paper bags by the advertisements and they should tell the people throw the bottles only in recycle bins. Moreover, some people run the NGOs so they should aware the people about the importance of green environment by organizing the dramas.
In conclusion, nowadays people give preference to the plastic bags, bottles and packaging which is not beneficial for our environment, however, spreading the knowledge about the importance of environment by government give good results in upcoming lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on environmental damage mentions water quality and air pollution but lacks depth or specific examples to fully support the arguments. The solutions provided are relevant but remain quite general, such as 'organizing dramas' or 'strict actions'. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples of how these policies have worked elsewhere. The position is clear throughout, but the overall depth of analysis is consistent with a Band 6.0 level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for damage and solutions, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The former is government should...' or 'The other thing is the most of the people...'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of variety in linking words limits the score. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the cohesion within paragraphs needs more refinement.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'materialistic', 'manufacturing', and 'recycle bins'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'upcoming lives' instead of 'future generations' or 'dramas' instead of 'awareness campaigns'. There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'give preference to the plastic bags'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the plastic bags', 'the government'), verb forms ('should done', 'they should banned'), and sentence construction ('So, this trend damage the environment'). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over subject-verb agreement and modal verb structures. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring they are error-free will also help improve your score in this criterion.
