Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like the situation in Mumbai, the explanation of how plastic affects the environment is quite basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of these issues with more depth. For instance, instead of just mentioning health problems, you could explain the chemical leaching process or the impact on marine ecosystems. The solutions provided are relevant but could be more specific and better integrated into the overall argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'who use them' in the third paragraph lacks a clear antecedent). To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences connect more naturally to one another rather than feeling like a list of separate points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'pollution', 'garbage', 'manufacturing', and 'municipal'. However, there is a lack of range and precision. You rely on simple verbs like 'put', 'make', and 'give', which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'through in the water' (should be 'thrown') and 'they are died' (should be 'they die'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('it often debate', 'use of plastic products are increasing') and incorrect verb forms ('they are died', 'people through their plastic'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and pluralization. Increasing your use of error-free complex sentences will also help you move into a higher band.
