Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: environmental damage and potential solutions. However, the development is uneven. While the impact on the food chain is explained, the point about soil fertility is brief. The solutions section is more detailed, covering government and individual roles. The essay ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence, which is a significant issue for task completion. To improve, ensure all points are fully expanded with clear examples and ensure the conclusion is finished to provide a sense of closure. The position is clear, but the lack of a complete conclusion prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' are used to link sentences. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'when human feed on those animals it cause life threatening health issues to them'. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the piece. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother and more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'non-degradable', 'ecosystem', and 'utilization'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'primary devastation' (should be 'primary devastating effects') and 'accidents feed on them' (should be 'accidentally feed on them'). The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on learning collocations and more sophisticated synonyms will help elevate the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it will creates', 'it cause') and article usage ('in the for chain'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the incomplete final sentence is a major error. The range of structures is limited, and the errors are noticeable, though they do not consistently impede communication. To improve, proofread specifically for subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
