Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the environmental damage caused by plastic and potential solutions from governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the 'marine food chain' is vague, and the link between plastic packaging and the 'greenhouse effect' is asserted without sufficient logical explanation. While the response covers all requirements, the depth of analysis is inconsistent, and some points are over-generalized. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your arguments, ensuring that the connection between the problem and the proposed solution is clearly articulated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'However' used to introduce a government solution, which does not contrast with the previous paragraph. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'the results of this' referring back to a complex situation. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to ensure a more natural flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You use basic terms like 'bad', 'things', and 'get', which limit the sophistication of your writing. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'results into more wastages' (should be 'results in more waste') and 'oftenly' (which is not a standard word). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'marine life' and 'recycling', the range is somewhat restricted. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding non-standard word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include 'all the kind of stationery' (should be 'all kinds of items'), 'can leads to' (should be 'can lead to'), and 'Individual can take oath' (should be 'Individuals can take an oath'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and article usage prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for these basic errors would significantly improve your score.
