Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on wildlife and human health, and the proposed solutions are clear. However, the development is somewhat uneven. For instance, the discussion on government intervention is repetitive, and the suggestion that individuals should 'completely ban' items is unrealistic and lacks nuance. While the position is clear, some points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Prominently', 'Consequently', and 'Additionally', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the solution. However, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'the main creation of the nature that are humans', which disrupts the flow. Overall, the coherence is sufficient to guide the reader through the argument effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'technological advancement', 'decomposition', and 'adversity'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'use of plastic is on peak', 'getting died', and 'curb down the adversity'. These errors do not impede communication but demonstrate a lack of precision. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and idiomatic phrasing to convey ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'the plastic does not comes' (subject-verb agreement), 'the main creation of the nature that are humans are getting' (clunky syntax), and 'businesses should be incorporated which solely produced' (tense inconsistency). Punctuation is generally functional, but the errors in verb forms and sentence construction are noticeable. The student needs to focus on consistent verb tense usage and subject-verb agreement to improve the accuracy of their complex sentences.
