Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of non-biodegradable materials and the suggestion of recycling fees. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of how plastic affects human health is vague, and the conclusion is incomplete, trailing off mid-sentence. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure that your arguments are fully concluded rather than leaving sentences unfinished.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each prompt requirement, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'government to Sikkim state in India had already imposed in last couple of years', which lacks grammatical clarity. The abrupt ending of the final sentence significantly disrupts the flow and coherence of the concluding paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'non-biodegradable', 'greenhouse gases', and 'flora and fauna'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'ruling authority', 'safe the nature', and 'bring reuse there plastic'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that word forms (e.g., 'safe' vs 'save', 'effect' vs 'affect') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('plastic... are one of the main reason'), incorrect verb forms ('it took millions of years'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the incomplete final sentence indicates a lack of control over sentence structure. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and pluralization, and ensure all sentences are complete.
