Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the claim that plastics 'cause cancer to the water' is scientifically vague and lacks clarity. While the example regarding agricultural yield in Italy is relevant, the explanation of how plastic inhibits seed germination is underdeveloped. The solutions provided are clear, but they could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of argumentation remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which helps the flow. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In addition to it' and 'Provided solution can be very helpful if i implement them'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. The use of cohesive devices is sufficient to guide the reader, but the lack of variety and occasional awkward phrasing prevents a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of non-standard word choices or collocations, such as 'hazardous things', 'plastics container', 'drastics change', and 'regime' (used incorrectly to mean government). Spelling errors like 'non-biodegrable' and 'madeup' also occur. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'decompose' and 'residue', the overall range is limited, and the errors occasionally draw attention to the language rather than the ideas being expressed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('plastics product are', 'individual can do their duties'), missing articles ('in agriculture field', 'in every countries'), and incorrect pronoun usage ('if i implement them'). Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with the misuse of semicolons and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures limits the score. A greater focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage is necessary.
