Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, though some points, such as the claim that plastic is the 'most harmful creature,' are slightly hyperbolic and lack precision. The structure is clear, and the position is maintained throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that the supporting evidence is more accurate (e.g., the WHO statistic cited is not clearly linked to a specific, verifiable source) and avoid over-generalizations that weaken the logical flow of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for problems and solutions, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'moreover,' 'consequently,' and 'in order to,' though some are used mechanically or with minor errors (e.g., 'In order to this situation'). Referencing is generally clear, though the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, despite some minor issues with sentence-level connectivity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'plstic,' 'dameges,' 'polution,' 'cumpanys,' 'sub-sidi's,' 'pyper puckagings') which occasionally distract the reader. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'non-biodegradable' and 'environment conservation,' the range is somewhat limited. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and expanding their repertoire of collocations to avoid repetitive phrasing and minor word-choice inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'plastic things... are adversely affect'), article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'The main damage that caused by plastic is...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and semicolons. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in basic grammar would significantly improve the score.
