Student answer (Band 6.0)
A school of thought suggest that plastic is not an environment friendly material. It is spreading harmful chemicals in land and sea. In order to solve this issue, the authorities should take some serious steps.
Firstly, this material is causing major disasters to land and sea which are two major resources of living creatures. It can make a fruitful land into dry land. Also in the sea, plastic materials can remove the minerals from the water. It can cause a detrimental impact on health of creatures living in the sea.
However, governments and individuals can solve this problem by acting quickly on this matter. There are some environment divisions in United Nations and World Health Organization are actively working on resolving these disasters. Also there are some private organizations and volunteers who are doing commendable job by planting trees, regular cleaning beaches and creating awareness. The authorities from all the countries should support these organizations by giving them funds and resources.
In addition to that, well-known people like actors, athletes, social media influencers etc. can spread awareness regarding environmental causes to save natural resources for future generations. We have only one day in whole year for environment which is called "World Environment Day", I think we should dedicate all 365 days in a year to appreciate and protect the resources god has given us.
In Conclusion, we should be more aware and we should not take things for granted. We should not think that it is not our job to clean the land and sea. We should do less use of plastic and save our natural resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the claim that plastic 'removes minerals from the water' is scientifically vague and lacks elaboration. While the response covers the required points, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. The position is clear, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, focusing more on personal exhortation than summarizing the main points of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'In addition to that' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally weak. For instance, the transition between the role of international organizations and the role of individuals is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the solutions, which helps the overall readability of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it lacks sophistication. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'fruitful land into dry land' and 'do less use of plastic'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'detrimental impact' and 'natural resources', the range is somewhat limited. The repetition of basic words like 'land' and 'sea' suggests a need for a wider variety of synonyms and more precise collocations to convey ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'A school of thought suggest' (subject-verb agreement) and 'regular cleaning beaches' (missing preposition/gerund structure). Additionally, 'There are some environment divisions... are actively working' contains a redundant verb structure. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The punctuation is generally correct, but the control over complex sentence construction needs improvement to ensure accuracy.
