Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's world most of things are made up of plastic and this is the problem for the nature. In this essay i will explain the impact of plastic on environment and how authorities can take certain steps to deal with this issue.
To begin with, plastic is effecting nature in number of ways. Firstly, plastic is non biodegradable due which dump sites are piling up and it is getting difficult for the workers to dispose garbage which is collected on weekly basis. Secondly, plastic is one of the reason that air pollution is increasing day by day. To elaborate, In India people burn plastic to get warmness in winter and to make food in rural areas as a result plastic release toxins and chemicals in air. Due to this, air is getting polluted and many diseases are increasing day by day. For example, some people have difficulty to breathe and others have diseases lung cancer.
However, Governments need to take certain steps to eradicate the effects of plastic on nature and humans. First and foremost, authorities should aware people about the use of plastic and how to dispose it in right way right.
Secondly, there should be hefty fines on people who throw garbage in open areas, with fear of heavy fines people will avoid using plastic bags and other things made up of plastic .In last governments starts awareness campaigns which will be shown on television highlighting the negatives of plastic and how it is effecting nature
In conclusion, I believe plastic is creating problems in environment and authorities should take serious actions to deal with it .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on air pollution is specific but lacks a broader scope regarding the impact on marine life or soil degradation. The solutions provided are relevant but could be more detailed; the suggestion for awareness campaigns is a good start, but the essay would benefit from more concrete examples of government policy, such as plastic taxes or bans on single-use items. The position is clear, but the overall depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'due which dump sites are piling up'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'plastic', 'nature', and 'garbage'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'non-biodegradable', 'toxins', and 'chemicals', there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'get warmness' instead of 'generate heat' and 'effecting nature' instead of 'affecting the environment'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of sophisticated or varied lexical items limits the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the environment'), verb forms ('plastic is effecting'), and prepositions. For example, 'plastic is one of the reason' should be 'one of the reasons', and 'due which' is grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and awkward spacing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures, keeping the score in the mid-range.
