Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how plastic affects the atmosphere is vague, and the solutions provided, such as 'impossing either fine or jail', are presented in a simplistic manner. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or deeper analysis. While the position is clear, the overall depth of the argument is restricted by the brevity of the supporting points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as in the phrase 'safeguard this trouble', which does not accurately reflect the intended meaning. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. There are several spelling errors, such as 'atmostphere', 'redicilous', 'futhermore', and 'impossing'. Furthermore, some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'sagacious way', 'fire the plastic', and 'make the unity'. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors and the reliance on basic vocabulary limit your score. You should focus on learning collocations and ensuring the correct spelling of common academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the use of plastic bags and bottles are'), incorrect verb forms ('they are not decompose easily'), and awkward phrasing ('people will stop to doing this'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should work on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
