Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the environmental damage caused by plastic and the potential solutions from governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as mentioning air pollution and health issues, and suggesting government regulation and individual responsibility. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the link between plastic and air quality (AQI) is not clearly explained or scientifically accurate, which weakens the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting evidence could be more logically connected to the specific environmental impacts of plastic (e.g., marine life, soil degradation) rather than general pollution. Overall, the response covers all requirements but lacks depth in its analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to that', 'Moreover', and 'To overcome this challenge', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or grammatical slips (e.g., 'due to which it creates'). Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be improved by ensuring each paragraph has a more robust topic sentence to better anchor the supporting arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors ('challange', 'prouct', 'soicety', 'biodegrable') and some awkward collocations ('diseases problem', 'made the environment very bad'). While the student attempts to use topic-specific language like 'non-recyclable' and 'regulation', the range is limited. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling, as the current errors occasionally distract from the message. The repetition of basic words like 'plastic' and 'environment' also limits the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('usage of plastic has been increased', 'people has to understand'), incorrect verb forms ('it can not be completely gets recyclable'), and awkward sentence construction ('if anyone does not follow the regulation can be find heavily'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for tense consistency and sentence structure is needed.
