Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the environmental damage caused by plastic and potential solutions from governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on marine life and the role of regulations. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the environmental damage is explained, the section on solutions is slightly repetitive and lacks depth in terms of individual responsibility, focusing primarily on government actions. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific reasoning or illustrative examples rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Firstly', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'There is lot of solution will taken'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences occasionally feels disjointed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'detrimental effects', 'hazardous', and 'disposable'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'lost their precious life' instead of 'lose their lives' and 'folks' which is too informal for an IELTS essay. The range is sufficient for the task, but more precise and academic vocabulary is needed to move beyond a band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('this can remain... then enters', 'animals can consume that... which may leads') and article usage. Some sentences are also poorly constructed, such as 'There is lot of solutions which can take by governments'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the response, although they do not significantly impede communication. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
