Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage (ocean pollution, climate change) and proposing solutions (government campaigns, individual behavioral changes). The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. However, the development is occasionally hindered by imprecise language, such as the phrase 'lunching campaigns' (likely meaning 'launching') and the slightly vague suggestion that individuals should 'inculcate a few habits'. While the position is clear throughout, the depth of analysis could be improved by providing more specific examples of government policy beyond just 'campaigns'. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, moving from the problem to the solutions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition to that', and 'Nevertheless', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Due to this' at the start of the introduction. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'it' in 'eventually it spreads pollution', where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Despite these minor issues, the overall structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'detrimental', 'fossil fuels', and 'carbon emission'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'plasic', 'marin', 'prompte', and the misuse of 'facaniating' (likely intended to be 'significant' or 'substantial'). The phrase 'lunching campaigns' is also a notable error. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('plastic materials... imposes', 'companies... relies') and article usage errors ('leads ocean and marine pollution'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'it imposes few terrible effects in order to make air polluted'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on proofreading for basic agreement and ensuring that complex structures are formed correctly.
