Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the reference to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of how plastic affects water bodies is slightly underdeveloped and contains some logical gaps regarding the impact on animals. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more depth and ensure that the link between the problem and the proposed solution is more explicitly articulated throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central focus. There is a logical progression of ideas from the problem to the solutions. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'starting with, land it decrease' or 'slowly but steady'. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is always clear and precise.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'non-recyclable', 'fertility of soil', and 'carbon monoxide'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'non recycle nature' instead of 'non-recyclable nature', 'water bodies eat that plastic' instead of 'marine life consumes plastic', and 'getting rid from' instead of 'getting rid of'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('plastic containers... having bad impact'), missing articles ('on rivers and ponds'), and incorrect verb forms ('they can even dead'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the student attempts complex structures, these are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
