Student answer (Band 6.0)
We are living in a contemporary era but still people are preferring using plastic products like plastic bottles, bags and other stuff which can be substituted by eco-friendly products.
plastic is not only dangeous for us individual but also for the environment. Discarding plastic near rivers can be so harmful for the fishes. Also, it takes thousands of years for a plastic to be disolved, Apart from that using it in any way like wrapping food can cause cancer, using it as a kitchen item can leave microplastic in your food which harms the body. Throwing it openly in the parks can cause detrimental effect on the environment. So, it is important to discard them properly that is only in the recycle bin.
However, this problem can be solved by individual itself by taking it as a serious issue and not to use plastic. Furthermore, Government can ban the use and can provide alternative options instead that are cheaper as well as better. Apart from that students should be taught in school why we should avoid and how it is effecting our lives. They can do this by performing a drama. For example- Recently, in my brother's school a play was performed by the students where they played the role of earth,
water, human and animals where they showed how just because of human's using plastic is solely affecting everything on this planet and what we can do, to avoid it and can use instead of plastic.
To conclude, plastic is not only dangerous and our affecting our lives but also it is harmful for every creature on this planet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying environmental damage and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on microplastics and cancer is mentioned but not fully explained or linked to a broader environmental context. The solutions provided, such as 'performing a drama' in schools, are specific but lack the depth required for a higher band score. To improve, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments, ensuring that the connection between the problem and the proposed solution is more robust and analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the problem to the solutions. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Apart from that', and 'To conclude'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Apart from that'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where the pronoun usage is slightly confusing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow and logical structure of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'eco-friendly', 'detrimental effect', and 'microplastic'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'dangeous' (spelling), 'disolved' (spelling), and 'individual itself' (collocation). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited; you tend to repeat basic words like 'plastic' and 'use'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations, and ensure greater accuracy in spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'people are preferring using' (incorrect verb form), 'a plastic to be disolved' (article/noun usage), and 'human's using plastic is solely affecting' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Aim to proofread your work to catch these minor errors, which will help you achieve a higher level of grammatical control.
