IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Plastic bags, plastic bottles and plastic packaging are bad for the environment.

What damage does plastic do to the environment?

What can be done by governments and individuals to solve this problem?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays there is a debate going on Plastic waste management. Plastic material such as bags, bolttes and so on put adverse effect on environment. They are damaging our oceans as well as reduce the fertility of soil. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I will discuss the effects of plastic on environment along with there solution.

A significat increase noticed in the recent years in the ocean pollution. Oceans are largely effected by the debries of the plastics, which impact on the oceans wildlife. Major contrubation is done by the people who visit beaches and did not dispose there plastic waste properly. As a results, fishes or other wildfife might die when they eat these plastic debries. Apart from the ocean pollution, plastic pollution also plays a major contribution in the soil pollution. As the plastic dump on the ground it remain in the earth for many years, which decrease the fertility and quality of the soil.

However, to handle this situation major steps can be taken by the authorities.First, government should restricted the use of plastic on the oceans banks. If an individual want to use plastic material on the beaches he or she have to take responsibiltiy to properly dispose it. Also, authorties should put signage for the plastic waste management on the beach. Last but not least, all the plastic product should be recycled instead of dumped on the land. Also government should launch proper recycling methods to recycle plastic products.

In conclusion, there are adverse effects of plastic products on both oceans and land, but for some extent it can be reduce by using proper managment techniquies and with the joint efforts of people and government.
