Student answer (Band 6.0)
Well, plastic has become a part of everyday usage in our lives. The increased reliance on plastic has been proven to cause a lot of damage to the environment we live in across the world. Some people still heavily rely on it after knowing the effects it causes.
Plastic items such as bags, bottle and utensils has taken over the market since last two decades but the effects have also blooming increased.First and foremost, it leads to ample amount of pollution because its hard to decompose. There are areas around every society in india where you can see plastic dumps in large amount and it hampers the biodiversity.Animals in search of food tend to consume plastic which leads to their death and causes alot of illnesses to them. Secondly, a study was found where it states that plastic is the key reason for increasing cancer patients across the world. People usually store food in such containers and it causes harmful diseases to them when food is microwaved in it.
Lastly, the economical advantages that plastic holds it still continues to be the most used item because certain people cannot afford expensive dishware for use so they heavily rely on it for usage.
However, i believe there's a lot individuals and government can do together to preserve the environment to make it a better place to live in.Plastic should be banned from use. Heavy fines and taxes should be imposed if anyone is seen using it. Awareness campaign should be held across the world to educate people on large basis.Decomposing plastic should be made a topic of discussion in the societies where people should be taught to segregate garabage in right order. Biodegrable items should be promoted for use and made economical for middle and lower middle class to buy.So, humans can unite and say no to its use to maintain the sustainablity for next generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing the damage plastic causes to the environment and suggesting solutions for both governments and individuals. The writer presents a clear position and supports ideas with examples, such as animals consuming plastic and health concerns regarding microwaving food in containers. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or colloquial, such as the point about economic advantages, which feels disjointed. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be extended with more depth and precise examples, but the core requirements of the task are adequately met, aligning closely with a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure, moving from introduction to problems, economic context, solutions, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, though paragraph breaks and spacing need better polish. Cohesive devices are present (e.g., 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', 'Lastly', 'However'), but referencing is occasionally faulty or mechanical, and some sentences lack smooth transitions. For instance, the transition into the economic paragraph feels abrupt. Punctuation errors around conjunctions and clauses also affect the flow. Overall, the organizational structure is adequate for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'biodiversity', 'segregate garbage', and 'sustainability'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'effects have also blooming increased' and 'ample amount of pollution'. Furthermore, spelling errors ('india' instead of 'India', 'garabage' instead of 'garbage', 'Biodegrable' instead of 'biodegradable') and missing articles prevent the score from being higher. The lexical range is sufficient to communicate meaning, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional and modal structures (e.g., 'Plastic should be banned', 'if anyone is seen using it'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'bottle and utensils has', 'a study was found where it states'), missing pluralization ('bottle' instead of 'bottles'), and incorrect prepositions. Punctuation and capitalization errors (e.g., missing spaces after periods, lowercase 'i') also occur throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they limit the control of grammar and place the response firmly at Band 5.5.
