Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: the response explains soil, water and air pollution, then gives actions for governments and individuals. The examples of animals mistaking plastic for food and harmful fumes from burning plastic make the environmental effects relevant. However, some points are only briefly developed: the government proposals are listed without explaining how they would change behaviour, and the individual section ends abruptly with “People should avoid packaging food.” The response also falls 15 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop these ideas. To strengthen the answer, complete the final point and add a specific example or explanation of how one proposed measure would reduce plastic waste.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on environmental damage, and a paragraph on solutions. Signposting such as “To begin with” and “To overcome this serious problem” helps readers follow the shift between topics, and the ideas generally progress logically. This already gives the essay a coherent structure. However, the final paragraph stops mid-idea, so the conclusion and the relationship between the individual actions are missing. Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated “also” and “Moreover,” while the long sentence about burning plastic contains several connected clauses that are difficult to follow. Complete the ending, vary transitions, and use clearer sentence boundaries to make cohesion more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “biodegrade,” “plastic debris,” “suffocation,” “internal blockage,” and “biodegradable items.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond very basic terms. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors sometimes make the wording awkward, as in “Wildspreding,” “useage,” “devastating soil pollution,” and “campaigns to aware people.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “a harmful chemicals” and “serious disease.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For example, “widespread use,” “causes soil pollution,” and “raise public awareness” would express your ideas more clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including the explanation that animals mistake plastic for food or become trapped, “leading to” injury or death. The main ideas are usually understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “the governments should makes,” “Plastic do not biodegrade,” and “it release a harmful chemicals.” The sentence beginning “For example, when people burn plastic items” also becomes difficult to control as several clauses are joined together. Practise matching subjects and verbs, using articles and plurals consistently, and separating long explanations into complete sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
