Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both questions: it identifies soil deterioration and possible health risks, then proposes government restrictions and individual choices such as paper bags. The examples about clay pots in Indian villages and Zara’s paper bags help make the suggestions more concrete. However, the environmental damage is explained less fully than the proposed solutions. For instance, the essay says plastic “keep[s] deteriorate the condition of the soil” but does not explain how long-lasting waste affects land or wildlife; the health claim is also broad and unsupported. Develop each point with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and ensure examples directly support the claim. The introduction signals both parts, but the essay’s discussion of damage could be more specific.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for environmental damage and solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the response easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “To recapitulate” show the intended relationships between ideas. The progression within paragraphs is generally understandable, though some links feel mechanical, and references such as “This things” are not clear or accurate. The damage paragraph also moves from soil to human health without explaining the connection, while the conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To strengthen cohesion, use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the point it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough topic vocabulary to communicate its main ideas, including “decompose,” “eco-friendly materials,” “penalty,” and “production.” It also attempts more formal expressions such as “To elucidate” and “To recapitulate.” However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the language noticeably unnatural: “comtemporary,” “exmeplify,” “put banned on,” and “a penalty of the money” are examples. “Plastics materials” and “materials for packings” are also imprecise. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they limit precision and fluency. Prioritise accurate, natural combinations such as “impose a ban on plastic” and “charge companies a fine.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “villagers … who usually use clay pot” and a conditional structure beginning “if individuals produce illegally.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “usage of plastic materials are increasing” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “This things can damage” has a demonstrative and plural mismatch. Other examples include “There are several damages can occur” and “There are certain things should government and individuals can do,” where clause structure is incomplete or faulty. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “a diseases” and “clay pot.” Practise building complete clauses and checking agreement, articles, and plural forms.
