Student answer (Band 6.0)
In present time the use of plastic is significantly increasing day by day at an alarming rate in the form of bads, bottles, packaging and in many other things. I believe that it puts lot of detrimental impact on surrondings. So, to overcome that issue government and people should do some initiatives, that I will discuess in the forthcoming paragraphs.
To commence with bad impacts of that waste, the first and foremost is the water pollution, flood and decline in animal species. To elaborate this, plastic is non bio- degradable due to that it covers large areas on sea and earth. When some animals eat these items then it stuck in their mouth and stomach and many of them losses their lives. Additionally, these bottles and bags also cover the areas of water flow and become the reason of floods in some regions. ACCORDING to the report of World Health Organisation, 40% of the sea level is tottly covered by plastic products that is really harmful for marine life, about 20% of marine animals disappeared due to this waste.
Hence, these kind of things damage the environment very fast.
Further shifting towards the solutions, higher authorities should banned the use of items that use plastic and aware the common people then they will definitely able to overcome the usage of these products. To explain this, government put some strict laws and heavy fines if some individual break the rules. Moreover, with the help of well renowned personalities, they will aware the massess through radio, television and other social media apps about say no to plastic and how to reuse the other items. It would also the responsibility of teachers to give proper guidance to pupils about how it would affect our lives along with other living things. A survay conducted by BBC news, in India government banned the use of plastic items in 2020 and many people try not to use items that are not easly degradble. Thus, if individuals and higher authorities do something together theywill able to reduce that issue.
To conclude, although plastic put detrimental impact on surrondings, if government do some initiatives then that problem can be solved by banned the use of items that use plastic and aware the common people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear view that plastic harms the environment and that governments and individuals should act. The effects paragraph identifies harm to marine animals and waterways, while the solutions include restrictions, fines, public awareness and education. These relevant points support the response, and the examples about marine life and India add some specificity. This also shows some of the development expected at a stronger level. However, several claims are unclear or insufficiently explained, such as the statement that plastic covers “40% of the sea level,” and the individual role is less developed than the government’s. Explain how proposed actions would reduce pollution and use precise, credible examples to strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on environmental damage, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with” and “Further shifting towards the solutions” help signal the main stages, and the reader can follow the overall argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “To elaborate this” and “Thus.” Some references are also unclear: “these kind of things” does not identify the effects precisely, and “they” in the solutions paragraph could refer to the government or public figures. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the two parts together. Use clearer links between cause and effect, and make pronoun references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “non bio-degradable,” “marine life,” “strict laws” and “heavy fines,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also some less common expressions, such as “detrimental impact,” although they are not always used naturally. Noticeable spelling and word-choice errors—“bads,” “surrondings,” “discuess,” “massess” and “easly degradble”—reduce accuracy and sometimes make the reader pause. Several phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “covers large areas on sea and earth” and “say no to plastic.” At this level, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main ideas, but greater control of spelling, collocation and precise environmental terms is needed for clearer, more flexible expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “When some animals eat these items…” and a clause beginning “although” in the conclusion. The main message is generally understandable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and verb forms. For example, “government should banned” needs a base verb after “should,” while “it stuck in their mouth” has problems with agreement and number. In “it would also the responsibility,” the verb “be” is missing, and “if government do some initiatives” has an agreement error. Some long sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise accurate modal constructions, subject–verb agreement and complete clause structures, then check punctuation and sentence boundaries.
