Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary world, plastic bags, bottles and packaging are harmful for the environment. Similarly, wider range of products are being handled by using plastics to deliver to the citizens. In the following paragraphs, I will be discussing the causes and solutions in detail with pertinent examples and plausible conclusion.

To commence with, the major problem causes by using plastics is that it releases heavy toxic gases, which has deterimental affects to the Environment. This is primarily because, plastic bags are not recyclable and many garbage collectors thrown it to fire, as a result it releases poisonous chemicals. Additionally, daily use items are being packed in plastic material and it is being throwned by individuals to random places, consequently animals grab it in their mouth and suffer from illness. For instance, it is accepted worldwide that plastic water bottles and waffers are using heavily by people in this world, which is causing pressing issues to the Environment.

Furthermore, these issues could be adressed by the authorities and citizens of country by plastics ban and camping of awareness among people. This is largely because the Government should enforce strict policy to ban the usage of plastics products and promote the recyclable materials only. Moreover, local community may organised a camping to spread the awareness about limited usage of Non-biodegradable products. To exemplify, it is globally observed that in few countries strict laws and fine enforced for throwing plastics products in wrong color containers and on the road.

To conclude, plastics usage has hazardious effects for the enviornment and living organisms. However, these issues can be addressed by pushing a punish rules and public understanding.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you describe harm from toxic emissions and animals ingesting discarded plastic, then propose government restrictions and public awareness campaigns. These are relevant ideas, and the example of fines and rules gives some support. However, the environmental damage is not fully explained: the effects of plastic waste on habitats, waterways, or its persistence in the environment could be developed. Some claims are also unclear or insufficiently supported, such as saying plastic bags are not recyclable and that collectors commonly burn them. The solutions are relevant but brief; explain how bans, enforcement, or alternatives would work. Overall, the response covers the task, though some points are less fully developed than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for environmental damage and solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Additionally,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help show the direction of the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and also shows some stronger control through paragraphing. However, several links feel mechanical, particularly repeated cause-and-effect transitions such as “This is primarily because” and “consequently.” Some references are also unclear: “these issues” in the solutions paragraph could refer to either pollution or harm to animals. Use transitions more selectively and make each paragraph’s central point explicit to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “toxic gases,” “poisonous chemicals,” “non-biodegradable,” and “enforce strict policy.” These choices show an attempt to use less common language, but inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural. Examples include “deterimental affects,” “throwned,” “camping” where “campaign” is intended, and “hazardious effects.” Phrases such as “plastics products” and “pushing a punish rules” are also awkward. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but greater accuracy and more natural combinations are needed. Prioritise checking spelling and learning common environmental collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect clauses such as “This is primarily because…” and “as a result…”. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the major problem causes” needs a correct verb form, while “many garbage collectors thrown it” has an incorrect past-tense form and unclear pronoun agreement. In “the Government should enforce strict policy,” the article is missing, and “local community may organised” combines a modal with the wrong verb form. These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but careful editing of verb patterns and agreement would make the complex sentences more reliable.
