Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued by people that using plastic based productes such as bags, bottles and packaging have detrimental effects on the atmosphere. Using plastic based material not only pollute the environment, but also the reason of increasing mortality rate of the animals. Legal authorities and public can take strict actions to ban such products to mitigate the problems related to environment.

The primary reason for damaging the surroundings is air pollution which is created by huge manufacturing companies when they melt the plastic to recreate the products. This process release the gases which is unhealthy for the environment and many people get diseases related to respiratory system. For an example, a healthy person living around the plastic factory can get coronary obstructive pulmonary disease without having any genetic history, and withing smoking. Moreover, plastic products are nonbiodegradable which is unhealthy especially for the stray animals, because when they find food from the rubbish and they accidently ingest the plastic bags which become the reason of their death.

Law and strict actions should be taken by nations can help to ameliorate this issue. Legal authorities should completely prohibt the usage of plastic based bags, and bottes especially for the food items. Furthermore, governments should make a law to use paper based material for selling such products, because paper based materials have less effects instead of using plastic. Also, it is usually seen that national bodies do not do the inspections on regular basis, which allow markets to sell such banned products. In addition to this, it is also the responsibility of the public to keep maintain and follow the rules without having an eyes of rural bodies. It is the liability of people to become a responsible citizens toward nation.

In conclusion, while using plastic made products have cruel consequences on atmosphere, but with the help of individuals and government bodies can work together to mitigate such kind of problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you describe harm to the environment and propose actions for governments and the public. The discussion of manufacturing emissions and animals ingesting plastic is relevant, and the example of wildlife eating bags helps illustrate the damage. Your proposed bans, inspections and use of paper alternatives also respond to the solutions question. However, some points are less fully explained: the respiratory-disease example is asserted rather than clearly linked to evidence, and the public’s role is expressed generally as following rules without explaining practical actions such as reducing, reusing or recycling plastic. Develop these points with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning and specific examples to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on environmental damage, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “In addition to this” help signal relationships. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several transitions feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is occasionally unclear—for example, the shift from government inspections to the public’s responsibility. The conclusion also repeats the main point without clearly summarising the two proposed approaches. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make each paragraph’s sequence of claims and examples more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “nonbiodegradable,” “respiratory system,” “mitigate” and “inspections,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “detrimental effects” and “legal authorities.” Some less common choices are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “atmosphere” is used where “environment” is intended, “ameliorate this issue” is awkward, and “cruel consequences” does not fit the context. Spelling errors such as “prohibt,” “bottes” and “withing” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise environmental collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your vocabulary more natural and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “companies when they melt the plastic” and a conditional structure beginning “when they find food from the rubbish.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction limit accuracy. For example, “products … have” conflicts with the singular framing “It is argued,” “This process release” should use a singular verb, and “Law and strict actions should be taken by nations can help” combines incompatible structures. The final sentence also lacks a clear grammatical subject for “can work together.” Practise checking each sentence’s subject and main verb, and simplify constructions when needed.
