Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. Yesterday I have read an news in the news paper mentioning that town centers in or country looks similar. As the layout of our town was developed in the past and earlier people prefer to build their houses similar to the neighborhood society. Every time whenever we look our town from distant it looks similar but when people enter the town and explore things then they observe the actual reality. In our town there are many facilities provided to the residents such as transportation, school and hospitals. even many neighborhood communities visits our town to take benefits of these facilities.
Further, if you would like to visits our town then I will be very happy to help you in providing guided tour by which you will noticed new plans of connecting a railway line to one of the highway which not only reduce the traffic but also helped residents in saving time for commuting.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state your position regarding the article, provide specific examples of how your town differs (facilities and community usage), and extend an invitation for a guided tour. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, you mention the town layout but do not clearly explain why it is unique compared to others, and the connection between the railway line and the town's uniqueness is not fully articulated. To improve, ensure that your arguments are more thoroughly explained and directly linked to the core topic of the town's distinct character.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Further' and 'not only... but also' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between the discussion of facilities and the invitation to visit could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'earlier people prefer to build their houses similar to the neighborhood society,' which is a bit ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring clear logical progression between sentences will help elevate your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly, such as 'residents,' 'commuting,' and 'facilities.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'an news' (should be 'some news' or 'an article'), 'in or country' (in our country), and 'take benefits of' (benefit from). To reach a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that your word choices are natural. Avoid repeating simple words and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning or community life.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Yesterday I have read' (should be 'Yesterday I read'), 'people prefer' (should be 'preferred'), and 'you will noticed' (should be 'you will notice'). There are also issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
