- offer to give a guided tour of your town to the writer of the article
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
A Few days ago i read your article regarding similarities of city centre such as Buildings, showrooms and many other things. I think there are many things which differentiate these centres.
All the Buildings are similar and almost at the same height located. Even, some showrooms are pretty equals in all the areas. In my town centre, there are more things to explore as compared to others. For example, variety of food quality, tourist attractions and convenience for public transport is good over here which i have not seen in any other side of this country.
I would like to give you a tour of this town centre with me so that you will get to know about new things which makes these cities different from each other and you have not seen before. I hope to get some positive reply from your side.
Thank you,
Your sincerely,
Manisha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully identify points of agreement regarding building height and showroom similarity, explain the unique features of your town, and extend an invitation for a tour. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention food quality and public transport, these points could be expanded with more descriptive detail to fully satisfy the requirement for a well-developed response. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though it could be slightly more formal to better suit the context of a newspaper correspondence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'For example' and 'so that' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited. Some transitions feel abrupt, such as the jump from discussing building similarities to your town's specific features. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between paragraphs would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'differentiate', 'tour', and 'convenience'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'pretty equals' (should be 'pretty similar') and 'good over here' (which is informal and imprecise). There are also minor errors in capitalization and word form, such as 'Buildings' and 'city centre'. To improve, focus on using more precise adjectives and ensuring that your word choices are appropriate for a formal letter to a newspaper editor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'A Few days ago i read' (capitalization and article usage), 'Buildings are similar and almost at the same height located' (awkward word order), and 'Your sincerely' (incorrect form). These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To reach a higher band, you should focus on consistent subject-verb agreement, correct capitalization, and refining your sentence structure to reduce these recurring slips.
