Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: agreeing with the article, explaining the town's uniqueness, and offering a tour. However, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence ('wi'), and fails to meet the 150-word minimum requirement. This under-length significantly impacts the development of ideas, particularly in the final paragraph, which remains underdeveloped. While the tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor, the lack of a proper conclusion and the failure to meet the word count limit the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, 'Here, I mentioned few things' is an awkward transition. The abrupt ending of the text also disrupts the overall flow and logical progression of the argument. While the ideas are generally sequenced, the lack of a concluding sentence or sign-off makes the cohesion feel incomplete.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There are some good attempts at higher-level vocabulary, such as 'plethora of facilities' and 'well-established', but these are offset by errors in collocation and word choice, such as 'I am totally agree' (should be 'I totally agree') and 'Heart-Touching and heaven views' (which is unnatural). The range is sufficient to convey the message, but the errors occasionally draw attention to themselves.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I am totally agree' (verb form error), 'few things' (missing article 'a'), and 'makes life better to their local people' (preposition error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and an incomplete final sentence. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score.
