IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have just read an article in a national newspaper which claims that town centres in your country all look very similar to each other. You don't fully agree with this opinion.

Write a letter to the editor of the newspaper. In your letter

• say which points in the article you agree with
• explain ways in which your town centre is different from most other town centres
• offer to give a guided tour of your town to the writer of the article

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear sir or madam,

I am writing in regards to a recent article that was published in your esteemed newspaper last week, claiming that all town centres across the nation are identical.

I agree to the viewpoint to a certain extent. It cannot be denied that majority of these complexes have a similar overall layout and architecture. Additionally, they have some common key features, such as transportation, retail stores, and grocery shops.

However, the town centre in my city has several distinct and unique features. One can find businesses selling handicrafts beautifully crafted by local artisans, as well as restaurants serving traditional authentic cuisines. This creates a sense of community, providing visitors with an unforgettable experience.

I would love to offer a guided tour of our town centre to the writer of this article. This would give them an opportunity to explore and experience the unique charm and culture the place has to offer.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and sincerely hope to welcome the writer to our city.
