Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your partial agreement with the article, provide specific examples of how your town differs (security, branded shops, LED banners), and extend an invitation for a tour. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the description of the town centre could be more descriptive to fully convince the reader of its uniqueness. The position is clear throughout, but the response would benefit from more sophisticated elaboration on why these differences make the town centre stand out from the 'standard' model described in the newspaper article.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'While' and 'However' (implied), though the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is a bit fragmented; the body paragraph is quite dense and could be split to better separate the points of agreement from the points of difference. Referencing is generally clear, but some transitions between ideas feel abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed theme.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'infrastructure', 'amenities', and 'viewpoint'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally hinder the natural flow of the text. For example, 'town centres are appearing nearly same' should be 'town centres appear nearly the same', and 'food centeen' is a misspelling of 'canteen'. Additionally, the phrase 'mostly every downtown buildings are same' is grammatically and lexically awkward. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you are using the correct forms of words in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('there is also have'), incorrect verb forms ('If I considering'), and awkward phrasing ('I personally guide you each and every corner'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of auxiliary verbs and correct tense usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you achieve a higher score.
