Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my views regarding the information which was printed in a national newspaper's article on Wednesday 25th July, that all the town centers have identical facades in my country.
I firmly agree that every town center having similar architecture plan, which includes 2 stores and same parking design. Apart from that, interior of the main building and the main offices are also identical.
Regarding the town center in country, the elevation is extremely different from others, brick wall is used in the front of the building enhance the front view of the building. Apart from that, the huge main entrance gate is the significant feature of this building, this gate not only helps in improve the exterior structure, but also provide excess natural light into the building.
You are welcome to visit my country to explore more about the town. So, you can check the details and take some pictures of the exterior of the town hall. I would love to arrange the tickets. please let me know your availability for next month.
Please contact me if any further assistant is required regarding the town center in my country.
Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your agreement with the article's premise regarding identical architecture, describe specific features of your town centre, and extend an invitation for a visit. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the description of your town centre focuses heavily on a single building rather than the town centre as a whole. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended and provide more comprehensive detail to support your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'Apart from that' to start sentences. Additionally, some transitions between sentences within paragraphs feel slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'identical facades', 'elevation', and 'exterior structure'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'architecture plan' (architectural plan) and 'provide excess natural light' (provide access to natural light). Furthermore, the phrase 'any further assistant' is incorrect; it should be 'assistance'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, you need to work on more precise word choices and collocations to move into the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'every town center having similar architecture' (should be 'has'), 'brick wall is used' (should be 'a brick wall'), and 'helps in improve' (should be 'helps to improve'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and article usage issues throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of subject-verb agreement and article usage.
