Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share my thoughts regarding the article about my town centre that you published in your national newspaper.
I read the article last night undoubtebly, one portion of article that was about the structure of town centre was well written. The infrastructure as well as color of the building was very well and beautifully defined in the article.
However, one point that was disappointed me is that you mentioned all town centre are same that is not true in this case. The beauty of my town centre that grasp the attention of most people is its facility of lift that was not available in the other centres. Besides, It have nine exit gates so people can not face over crowding during exit that would be experienced by many people while visiting other town centre.
I would like to invite you to visit my town centre in order to become more familiar with its facilities. In this regards, I can provide you a guided tour so you will not face any difficulty during during your visit.
I hope you will consider my feedback in a positive manner. I am looking forward to see you.
Thank you
Your's sincerely

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state which parts of the article you agree with, explain the unique features of your town centre, and extend an invitation for a tour. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of the 'lift' and 'exit gates' is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended and that the connection between your town's features and the newspaper's claim is more explicitly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Besides', and 'In this regards' (though this is grammatically incorrect). While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points requested in the prompt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'that', 'this') is precise to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'infrastructure', 'undoubtedly', and 'familiar'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'grasp the attention' (should be 'grabs') and 'facility of lift' (should be 'lifts'). Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'undoubtebly'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of collocations and checking word forms will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'one point that was disappointed me' (should be 'disappointed me'), 'all town centre are same' (should be 'centres are the same'), and 'It have nine exit gates' (should be 'It has'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors do not prevent communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and verb tense consistency.
