Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I have come across an article a few days back writing about my city developments and also highlighting lights on various historical places, which also require certain corrections.
First of all, I would like to thank you for praising about the developments and facilities which you admired while visiting Bangalore city from travelling from Delhi and I completely agree with your statements about the recent changes. For example, you shade lights especially on historical places like Lal Bagh, Cubbon park and Vidhan Sabha were so appealing to watch.
However, I would like to correct your opinion about Bangalore international airport terminal 2 is exact copy of Singapore airport. Of course, builder used various modern techniques but it does really does not match with the interior designs nor the architecture. Moreover, if you need some guidelines regarding this place please confirm your next visit to Bangalore, I would more delighted to provide more insights about the place.
Hoping you will look into these corrections.
Yours faithfully,
Anjali Reddy

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, including agreeing with the article, explaining how your town is unique, and offering a tour. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the airport, the explanation of why it is not a copy of Singapore's is brief and lacks detail. To reach a higher band, ensure your arguments are more fully extended with specific examples or reasoning. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though the opening is slightly confusing regarding the article's content.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'However', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the article's claim about 'town centres' and your specific focus on the airport could be smoother to ensure the overall progression of the argument is more logical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'historical places', 'modern techniques', and 'insights'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'highlighting lights on' and 'praising about the developments'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding redundant phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I have come across an article a few days back writing about', 'it does really does not match', and 'I would more delighted'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent understanding. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, the correct use of auxiliary verbs, and prepositional phrases. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will significantly improve your score.
