Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing this letter by stating disagree on your article in a national newspaper that says about my town centre is exact same as your town centre.
First of all, I totally agree with your article that my town centre is located in the centre of town, with amenities such as a shopping mall, a theatre, and a gym.
However, my town centre is well-developed and very well-structured, as well as having myriad innovative developments. with results, attracted a number of individuals to visit the town centre.t
I would like to offer a guided tour of my town, which you can experience various developments and ancient construction in my town for instance a 500-year-old temple and a 300-year-old museum, and various lakes and beautiful parks.
I hope you will look into this matter, and waiting for your reply.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Harshil Trivedi.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your disagreement with the article, describe specific features of your town, and extend an invitation for a tour. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why your town is different is brief and relies on a list of features rather than a detailed comparison. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended; for instance, explaining how the 500-year-old temple creates a unique atmosphere compared to modern, generic town centres would provide more depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the different requirements of the task. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'with results, attracted a number of individuals'. The transition between the agreement with the article and the counter-argument is functional but could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to the limited range of linking words used to connect your ideas effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amenities', 'innovative developments', and 'ancient construction'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'stating disagree on your article' (should be 'stating my disagreement with') and 'my town centre is exact same' (should be 'is exactly the same'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and common collocations to achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('in centre of town'), incorrect verb forms ('waiting for your reply' instead of 'I am waiting'), and awkward phrasing ('which you can experience various developments'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles in complex sentences.
