Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/ Madam,

In the esteemed column of your newspaper, i want to draw attention among the claim of similarity of the town center structures in my country. However, is personally disgree with this statement beacuase every town center is uniques in the own apperances and their specifications.

Moreover, the article states that there are different amenites, offices, hospitals, shops and buildings throughout the town center with the similar paint and exterior design, which i agree, but the uniques features are like wall arts, canopy structure, free parking, walkout tours, rooftop restaurents which make them unique. The similar colour throughot the buidings is one of the government regulation among the country, beside that the a person can enjoy the social exposure among the town center which is the best part in the country.

Therefore, article state some of the relevant, but incomplete information, so i like to invite you for the tour of the country with our experieced tour guides for the better understand of country.

Thank you

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it acknowledges the article's claims, explains why the town is unique, and offers a tour. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited by the language used. The position is clear, but the explanation of why the town is different is slightly repetitive and lacks depth. To improve, you should expand on how the specific features mentioned, such as 'wall arts' or 'canopy structures', actually differentiate the town from others, rather than just listing them. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though it could be more formal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors, which makes some sentences feel disjointed. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the tour of the country', which is confusing given the context of a town tour. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'disgree', 'beacuase', 'uniques', 'apperances', 'amenites', 'restaurents', 'buidings') that occur frequently. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors distract the reader. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'amenities' and 'specifications', but the collocation is often unnatural, such as 'social exposure among the town center'. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('article state'), incorrect preposition usage ('among the claim', 'among the town center'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the salutation and the use of commas. While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb forms and prepositions.
