Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Manager,
Today, I am writing this letter regarding the article which was posted in national newspaper on Monday 23rd, July on page no-3 in which you wrote that the town of my area is look similar with the other countries. I do not fully agree with this stance because there are some of the places which look different from the other nations.
Commencing with the agree opinion, the city centres of all over the Canada are look similar including our as well. However, the architecture of commercial sites is completely different in comparison to other states or nations. Moreover, almost in Canada downtown building are painted with black and brown colour but my cities building painted with white colour only, which show the safety sign of the city. Also most of the local shops and homes built with historical design that help to demonstrate our culture identity.
Moving further, I would be grateful if you will have a tour the city in upcoming week because in the next week my examination will be completed and I can show you various places of the city that you will find best and different.
Thank you for posting our city article and I will look forward of your response and for more information please feel free to contact me on weekdays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: agreeing with the article, explaining how your town is different, and offering a tour. Your position is clear from the beginning. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation regarding the 'white colour' of buildings as a 'safety sign' is slightly confusing and lacks logical depth. To improve, ensure that your arguments are fully explained so the reader can easily follow your reasoning. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though the opening 'Dear Manager' is less suitable than 'Dear Editor'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Commencing with', 'Moreover', and 'Moving further' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural in context. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the phrase 'the city centres of all over the Canada are look similar including our as well'. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help your writing flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'agree opinion' should be 'points I agree with', and 'look similar with' should be 'look similar to'. You also use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'city' and 'town' used interchangeably in ways that occasionally obscure meaning. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding direct translations from your first language, which can lead to unnatural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'are look similar'), article usage (e.g., 'in Canada downtown building'), and tense consistency (e.g., 'if you will have a tour'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
