Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to inform you that I have few points that I have to mention about an article that every downtown is very familiar to others town centres.

I am reading "Times Of America" newspaper from last 35 years. On yesterday newspaper (Date:08/21/2026) there was an article about downtown. Where I found very interesting about how every state government works together to build the downtown and how it will gives jobs opportunity in constructions.

However, your author also mentioned that all the downtown looks similar to each other. I am not agreed on this statement. Though I am living in Miami since my chilhood and Miami downtown is the most popular for night life. While, most of the citizens telling that its most unique and modern downtown of the USA. In Miami, we have ocean, skyscrapper, and even is been used in multiple video games.

I would like you to give an offer to author for touring my city . I will be a guide of your writer for one day.

I hope you will consider my views on your article and I am happy to have chance to give a little tour of Miami to your writer.

Best regards,

Krish

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You identified points of agreement regarding the construction of downtown areas, explained why Miami is unique, and extended an offer for a guided tour. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention Miami has an ocean and skyscrapers, these points are not fully explained to contrast effectively with the 'similarity' mentioned in the article. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though the structure of your arguments could be more cohesive to better persuade the reader of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'While', but the transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Where I found very interesting about how...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the first paragraph where the phrasing 'every downtown is very familiar to others town centres' is confusing. Improving the flow between sentences would help your ideas connect more naturally and elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety needed for a higher band. You rely on basic descriptors like 'very interesting' and 'most popular'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'familiar' instead of 'similar' and 'skyscrapper' (spelling error). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary related to urban development, but these attempts are occasionally hindered by grammatical inaccuracies. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated adjectives and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I am reading... from last 35 years' (tense error), 'I am not agreed on this statement' (passive voice error), and 'most of the citizens telling that its most unique' (missing verb/article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around parentheses and commas. While your meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests that you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and basic sentence construction to improve your accuracy.
