Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well, I am writing this email in regard to your recent article in Times of India. I am not really satisfied with the information written in the article. I do not agree with your publish, I believe all town center has its on identity.
I believe all the town center in the country has different lay-out, they are built with different architecture. Moreover, there are many different brands available in different centers. In my town center, there are specific type of elevators available for people using wheelchair, or for physically declined. I have not noticed this in other town centers. Town center near me celebrates and put up decorations on every festivals, on the other hand, other town centers only focuses on big occassions.
I agree with the food court system and how expensive it is inside a mall. I feel you truly elaborated on the cost in the food industry inside a town center, which is similar everywhere.
I would really like to invite you for a tour with me to give you indepth knowledge and expertise about our town center. I will be waiting for your response.
Yours sincerely,
Mahi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state your disagreement with the article, provide specific examples of how your town differs (such as accessibility features and festival decorations), and extend an invitation for a tour. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an editor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the mention of 'physically declined' is unclear and the explanation of the food court system is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully extended and that your vocabulary choices are precise to avoid ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'on the other hand', and 'I believe'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing town center layouts to wheelchair accessibility could be smoother. Additionally, the paragraphing is slightly inconsistent, as the agreement with the food court point is placed after the points of disagreement, which disrupts the logical progression of your argument. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'architecture', 'decorations', and 'expertise'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'physically declined' (which should be 'physically disabled' or 'people with mobility issues'), 'publish' (used as a noun instead of 'article' or 'piece'), and 'every festivals' (should be 'every festival'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('all town center has its on identity' should be 'all town centers have their own identity') and punctuation errors (comma splices in the first paragraph). Additionally, 'on' is used incorrectly instead of 'own'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct article usage.
