IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have just read an article in a national newspaper which claims that town centres in your country all look very similar to each other. You don't fully agree with this opinion.

Write a letter to the editor of the newspaper. In your letter

• say which points in the article you agree with
• explain ways in which your town centre is different from most other town centres
• offer to give a guided tour of your town to the writer of the article

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to response of a recent article which published in a national newspaper, which suggest that town centers throughout country look identical. Although, I agree with certain points in an article, I do not entirely agree with this view.

It is fact that many town centers have similar design, supermarkets, coffee-shops and fast-food outlets. Furthermore, some of the modern buildings architectures is often quite similar which can make different towns less unique.

However, my town, Navsari, is quite unique in several ways. Alongside modern shopping centers and facilities, it has many traditional markets and small family-run businesses. Furthermore, the children’s garden is another distinctive feature, with various facilities and attractive lighting, including colorful animal-shaped lights and piano-like stepping lights.

In addition, town has a famous old temples as well as some historical places which attracts visitors. It also famous for its authentic traditional Gujarati foods.

I would be pleased to take the writer on a guided tour of Navsari. I could show them the traditional market, historic places and local food areas, which would help them see the town’s unique character for themselves.
