Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I saw your article in yesterday's newspaper which was on the same structure of all the town centres in the country. As i am living in surrey and i almallost went to all the closest districts in British Columbia. However, all the centres were alsmot same in the structure as you said in the article, but meaning of the structure is different according to the place.
As a guy living in surrey i can say that my town center which is called central city is really different from other centres around metro Vancouver. Because here in surrey all kind of shops and malls are very close to the town center. In other cities they are really far and surrey have one of the most attractive designs for the center of the city.
You are welcomed to watch the beauty of the city and i will show you proper door to door building in surrey central city and you will be surprised after visit.
Yours faithfully,
Kuwerinder Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You acknowledged the article's premise, explained how your town differs, and extended an invitation for a tour. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when explaining why your town is different, you mention that shops are 'very close' to the center, but you do not elaborate on why this makes the design 'attractive' or unique compared to others. To improve, try to provide more specific examples of architectural features or local amenities that distinguish your town from the 'similar' ones mentioned in the article. Your tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though it could be slightly more formal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'Because'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraph is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, in the first paragraph, the phrase 'meaning of the structure is different' is vague and lacks a clear connection to the preceding sentence. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother narrative flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it is somewhat repetitive and basic. You frequently use simple terms like 'structure', 'different', and 'center'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I almallost went to all the closest districts' (should be 'I have visited') and 'proper door to door building' (which is unclear). To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to urban planning or town design. Additionally, there are several spelling errors, such as 'almallost' and 'alsmot', which suggest a need for more careful proofreading of your work before submission.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'As i am living in surrey and i almallost went to all the closest districts' contains a run-on structure and incorrect verb tense. There are also issues with capitalization (e.g., 'i', 'surrey', 'british columbia') and article usage (e.g., 'in surrey', 'to the town center'). While your meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, proper capitalization of proper nouns, and consistent verb tenses.
