IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have just read an article in a national newspaper which claims that town centres in your country all look very similar to each other. You don't fully agree with this opinion.

Write a letter to the editor of the newspaper. In your letter

• say which points in the article you agree with
• explain ways in which your town centre is different from most other town centres
• offer to give a guided tour of your town to the writer of the article

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to point out few misinformation that has been published in your last article. Although there are many similarities between the town centres all around our country, I would not say all of them look similar. I agree with your observation that most of the centers are divided into three zones, however there are still many centers which look completely different.

While most town centres have structurally modern architecture, the one located in my city is completely different. It is a part of a historical building, therefore it gives the atmosphere of the old palaces. Also, unlike other shopping centres it dose not only have food court, but also community barbecue area is there. People often rent that area and spend time with locals.

I know you love visiting new places, so I would like to invite you for a properly guided tour of my town. I can show you all the great monuments that we have in our town. Also, one of my friend is botanist, and would love to give you a tour of botanical garden.

We can arrange the time and day that is suitable for you.
