Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly state your disagreement with the article, provide specific examples of how your town differs (such as the proximity to the beach and the organized layout), and extend an invitation for a guided tour. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why your town is unique could be more detailed to fully convince the reader. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an editor, though the opening 'Hello Editor' is slightly informal compared to the required 'Dear Sir or Madam'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To start with', 'However', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the repetitive use of 'Finally' at the end of the letter. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the sentence 'I would to give a guided tour for my town', where the connection to the previous point could be smoother. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific words like 'geographical', 'structural planning', and 'consideration'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'buildings structure look similar' instead of 'building structures look similar' and 'other country towns' instead of 'other towns in the country'. You also struggle with basic collocations, such as 'give a guided tour for my town' (should be 'of my town'). Expanding your range of vocabulary would help you express your ideas with more precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include missing articles ('like beach is closer'), incorrect verb forms ('I would to give'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('town centers... looked similar'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small grammatical slips will significantly improve your score.
